In addition to annual events already scheduled throughout Natchitoches, opportunities are available on the second Saturday of every month, beginning January 2014, to host an event based upon monthly themes honoring Natchitoches’ Tri-Centennial.
The monthly themes are January-Sacred Faith; February-Black History; March-Colonial Heritage; April-Civil War 150, one-hundred fifty years after the Civil War, and Music Heritage; May-Preservation and Education, and Women's History; June-Sports and Recreation; July-Louisiana Heritage; August-Art in August; September-Founders Day, WWII Events, events connected to World War II; October-Creole Heritage; November-Native American Heritage; and December-Christmas Season.
A group or organization is encouraged to create an event that will showcase the group while educating participants about the diverse history, culture, lifestyle, cuisine, people, heritage, architecture, and festivals that define Natchitoches as Louisiana's oldest city and a special place to visit.
The process to present an event idea for consideration to the Tri-Centennial Steering Committee requires two forms. A 2014 Tri-Centennial Event: Master Calendar Request form, and a Tri-Centennial Event Grant Application for event organizers needing limited financial assistance to host an official Natchitoches Tri-Centennial event.
Approved groups can also request the use of the official Tri-Centennial logo using an application usage process. The logo represents the event as an approved and endorsed Tri-Centennial activity.
