Annual Crafts Day to be held Dec. 1

NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State  University will host its annual American Indian and Creole Crafts Day Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Williamson Museum on the second floor of Kyser Hall. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. The event is held annually on the same day at the Natchitoches Christmas Festival.

Native American craftspeople will sell and demonstrate their arts and crafts, beadwork, basketry, woodwork and more. Craftspeople are expected from the Coushatta-Alabama, Tunica-Biloxi and Choctaw communities.

Creole craftspeople will show arts and crafts including file making demonstrations, dolls and paintings.

The American Indian and Creole Crafts Day is sponsored by the Northwestern State Anthropological Society and the Louisiana Creole Heritage Center. All proceeds from sales go to the craftspeople.
