Krewe of Dionysus Mardi Gras Parade

Formed in 1995, the Krewe of Dionysus has over 300 members. This family friendly night time parade consists of a dozen or more super floats, lots of throws including beads, cups & specialty items and marching bands. The Krewe gathers on Highway 1, South Drive for their float loading party early in the day and the parade begins around 5:30pm. Families are urged to set up along the parade route and tail gate with their family and friends. The route continues along Highway 1/South Drive north to Keyser Avenue and crosses the bridge over Cane River Lake to Jefferson Street and the Landmark Historic District.

The parade winds through the historic district and Front Street amidst 1000s of voices yelling “Throw me something mister”.

The parade will begin on Highway 1/South Drive (across from Maggio’s Package Liquor), travel North to Keyser Avenue, turn left, cross the bridge over Cane River Lake and take a right on to Jefferson Street, continue along Front Street, turn left onto Texas Street, then take another left onto Second Street, and end at City Hall.

UPDATE 2/18/2012: Due to the major rain in Natchitoches the Krewe of Dionysos has BEEN CANCELED & will not be rescheduled. Krewe of Waguns will roll on Sunday February 19, 2012 at 2pm.

1 p.m. Krewe of Wag-uns Parade

Line up for the Krewe of Wag-uns parade begins at 12:30p.m. at the Bank of Montgomery, 814 Washington Street. All children and pet owners are invited to participate.  There is a  $5 registration fee for pet owners only to benefit the Natchitoches Parish spay and neuter program.  Mardi Gras beads will be furnished.  The route will go south on Front Street to Touline, approximately 5 blocks.

Music 3-6pm – Them Jazz Cats on Front Street sponsored Natchitoches Main Street.
