DESCRIPTION:
What is so scary about Natchitoches history? Well it is almost 300 years old and a lot of interesting characters have come and gone during this time. The guided tour through the American Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in the Louisiana Purchase, is where former historical figures will be portrayed in period costume.
The tour will focus on some of the more dramatic events in Natchitoches history. Local actors will portray the people that were central to these events at stations around American Cemetery. In many cases, these stations will be located near the graves of those being portrayed.
Highlights from the American Cemetery Tour will include:
Isabella, The Ghost of Louisiana Normal – A French aristocrat who became a nun after the death of her beloved lover. She has haunted the campus of Northwestern State University for the past 150 years.
The Tragedy of the L’Herrison Family – Three generations of one of Natchitoches’ first families will be portrayed. Their sad tale is filled with misery, grief and the untimely deaths of several family members.
The Front Street Ghost – U.S. General Napoleon McLaughlin returns to seek his revenge after his murder by Laws Kimbrel of the notorious West-Kimbrel Klan.
